Culture and Artcrafts

Culture is very present in the daily life of the people from Seridó (seridoenses). In the architecture of their churches and in the ancient houses of the farms;  in their museums, which guard relics that refer to economic cycles lived by the region: of the cattle raising, mining and cotton; in the rich collection of sacred works, that may be found in churches and homes.

The musicality is another unmistakable chacteristic of the seridoenses. The area is a nest of musical bands. The art of embroidering in this area of Rio Grande do Norte is synonymous of imagination and pure creativity of the women who live in the rural area.

There are many types of embroidering executed by the artists of the Seridó, from the famous and traditional embroidering made in pieces of linen and cotton: towels, blankets, centerpieces, handkerchiefs. The embroiderings are the mirror of the souls that executes them, searching for inspiration in the nature of contrasts, wasteland or soft,  strong and light tones of the countryside.
